Chelsea star Willian says he is aiming to win the Ballon d’Or following his fine early season form.

The Brazilian midfielder, who thus far has failed to capture the Stamford Bridge crowd’s full attention in recent years has now taken centre stage.

Whilst Eden Hazard has failed to live up to last season’s scintillating form, it is Willian with his host of vital free kicks that have given the Chelsea fans hope.

He’s never been the most exciting player, but Willian has revealed he is focused on trying to be named the World Footballer of the Year.

“It’s my dream.” he told Copa 90.

“I want to become the Player of the Year, to win the World Cup and be considered as a legend at Chelsea.”

The 27 year old who came to be known during his five year spell with Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk arrived at Chelsea in 2013 – with a turbulent year at Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.

He has had a steady few years with his influence on the field growing each season.

Although the Brazilian may have some tough competition from the small matter of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, it is refreshing to see a player wanting to keep challenging himself to bigger and better things.
