FC Goa, coached by Brazilian legend Zico and captained by Lúcio, registered the biggest victory in the Indian Super League on Tuesday evening.
Haokip and Dudu Omagbemi scored a hat-trick each as Goa dismantled Mumbai City FC 7-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao. Goa took the lead in 33rd minute through Haokip which was also the 100th goal of the ISL. Defender and captain Lúcio combined well with his compatriot Leonardo Moura who set up Dudu for Goa’s second goal. The second 45 minutes was totally dominated by the home side as Haokip made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute. Goa then took complete control of proceedings and Dudu scored twice in quick succession to score his hat-trick. Romeo Fernandes, who had a spell at Brazilian club Atlético-PR after the inaugural edition of the ISL, made a solo run on the right flank before Haokip’s third and Goa’s sixth. Brazilian striker Reinaldo Oliveira added one more in the last minute of the game to complete the scoring as Goa maintained their top spot in the league standings with 18 points from 10 games.
