Santos president Modesto Roma was present in Salvador on Tuesday to watch the national team"s World Cup qualifier against Peru.
There were certain reports that his visit to Salvador was to talk to Giuseppe Dioguardi, the agent of São Paulo midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso. Talking to Seleção SporTV, Modesto confirmed a personal interest in signing Ganso, but denied that he was in Salvador for negotiations, and said that it would be a lack of respect to get in touch with the player before the end of the Brazilian Championship.
According to the journalist Bruno Andrade, Palmeiras are another club wanting to sign Ganso for the 2016 season, and have started the first contacts to reach an agreement. The good relationship of director of football Alexandre Mattos with businessman Delcir Sonda, who owns 68% economic rights of the player, is expected to ease the negotiations. Mattos [previously worked at Cruzeiro] and Delcir Sonda were responsible for the transfer of defender Dedé from Vasco to Cruzeiro in 2013.
