Santos are in the market to search for a central defender for tbe upcoming season, and are reportedly interested in Fluminense"s Gum.
The 29-year-old centre-back has been at Laranjeiras for the last 7 years, and has a contract until the end of 2018. Gum has been booed by the Fluminense crowd on some occasions this year following his poor performances, but still continues in the starting lineup of the team. According to Globo Esporte, Santos were unsuccessful in their attempt to sign Gremio"s Pedro Geromel, and are now showing interest in Gum. During a press conference, Gum said: “The only thing I know is through the press. Every year, there are proposals to leave or continue. My head is in the remaining four games [in the Brasileirão], and to finish well. My manager is the one who takes care of that. I"ve been at the club for seven years and I"ve always had proposals to leave. In 2011, there were 11, but I stayed."
