Atlético Mineiro’s Jemerson has said he already feels at home with the seleção following his call up this weekend. The 23 year old has been called into the full squad for the first time, with David Luiz suspended for the qualifier against Peru on Tuesday night in Salvador. The young Galo centre half gushed about the honour of his call up, but said he has already been made to feel at home with the national setup.

“The guys are very cool, I was received very well and I have been made to feel at home being treated that way.” Jemerson, who has been a mainstay of Galo’s defence alongside the experienced Leo Silva, said he thought he was on the receiving end of a prank call when he got the call to join the squad from the CBF.

“When they called me saying that I was called, I thought it was a joke. I could not believe it. If I have chance to play, I will give my best and a little more. This is the Brazilian national team and I have managed to fulfill my dream.”

With Marquinhos injured and David Luiz suspended, it is likely that Gil of Corinthians will start alongside Miranda against Peru. The call up of Jemerson represents a further snub to Thiago Silva, who has still not been called for. It’s the clearest indication yet that Dunga will not call upon Silva again while he remains in charge of the Seleção.
