Santos playmaker Lucas Lima was handed a start by coach Dunga on Friday against Argentina in Brazil"s third game of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Lucas Lima hopes he can keep his place in the team, as Brazil host Peru on Tuesday at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador. The 25-year-old gave the ball away in the first half, which led to the goal from Ezequiel Lavezzi, but he made amends by scoring Brazil"s equaliser in the second period. Lucas Lima volleyed home after getting on the end of an effort from Douglas Costa which rebounded off the crossbar. Lucas said: “I played naturally [after Argentina scored]. It was a silly move and gave them the chance of a counterattack, but I tried to stay cool and was rewarded with a goal. The ball came at dipping. I positioned my body to take it on in the best way I could. I hit the ground and then felt only joy. I was diagonal at that point, focusing on hitting the floor. Then I realized our fans screaming and felt great emotion."
He added: “I trust in my potential. Every game, I will try to give the maximum. I hope I have pleased Dunga."
