Pelé, Ronaldo, Zico, Romário and Neymar are the top five goal-scorers in the history of the Brazilian national team.
Brazil are up against Peru on Tuesday at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador in the fourth round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Neymar failed to make an impact on his debut in the World Cup qualifiers last Friday in Buenos Aires. None of the four names above Neymar needed more than two matches to score their first goal in the World Cup qualifiers, and against Peru, Neymar will try to find the net and ‘match’ the legends. Ronaldo and Romário scored on their debuts, while Pelé and Zico found the net in their second game.
In 1969, Pelé made his debut in the qualifiers against Colombia, but couldn’t score. In the next game, he found the net twice in a 5-0 victory over Venezuela. Zico also debuted in the qualifiers against the Colombians, but the game ended 0-0. Brazil then thrashed Venezuela 6-0 with Zico scoring one, and getting sent off. In 1989, Romário played his first qualifier and scored in a 4-0 win over Venezuela, while Ronaldo opened the scoring in a 2-1 victory over Colombia in 2003.
