Alexandre Pato has been accustomed to criticism from the Corinthians board and supporters since his loan move to São Paulo, but he’s been on the rise this year.
Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade has now hailed the 26-year-old forward and thinks he’s the best player at São Paulo. The club wants to take advantage of the player’s very good spell at São Paulo, and are trying to sell Pato in the January transfer window. Roberto de Andrade said: “I think he had an excellent season at São Paulo. For me, he’s the best player of São Paulo. He can also have a chance in the national team. He’s a great player.”
Corinthians are awaiting proposals for Pato, and ensures that they still haven’t received anything concrete, despite recent claims from European press that Liverpool might be close to signing him. Corinthians hold 60% of Pato’s rights and expects to recover at least a part of the investment made in January 2013 to bring him from Milan. They were looking for a fee of €10 million, but following the player’s form, the board confirmed that they will sell him for a fee around €25m.
