Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao"s goal gave Cruzeiro a 2-1 victory over São Paulo in Brasileirão Round-34 fixture on Sunday at the Mineirão stadium.
The striker came off the bench in the second half, replacing midfielder Gabriel Xavier and found the net in the 80th minute to give Cruzeiro the lead. The result kept Cruzeiro at 10th place in the league table with 48 points. After four months without finding the net in the Brazilian Championship, Damião scored in the team"s last two fixtures, against Avaí and São Paulo. The player cited family support to overcome the criticism following his poor phase. He said: “We are doing our part. If we get to play with Inter [in the last round in Porto Alegre] with the possibility of going to the Libertadores, we"re seeking it. Always have trust. I have the support of my family. And I try to improve in training."
