Absent from the squad since the Copa América, former captain Thiago Silva admitted that he’s upset about staying away from the national team.
Brazil face Argentina and Peru this month in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, and Thiago Silva expressed his sadness at not being called up again by Dunga. The PSG central defender was asked about retirement, but he rejected that possibility and says he’s ready to help the country when needed. He was quoted in Globo Esporte: “The break will be important for the French Championship and the Champions League. I’d rather be with the national team, but the coach made his choices. I have to accept and keep working. I’m hurt because it is my dream to go to the World Cup with the national team, but I have to accept and work because the playoffs are long, so perhaps they’d need me. Retirement? No! Not me! I dream with this shirt. If they need me, I’m willing to help my country.”
