Arsenal centre back Gabriel has been called into the Brazil squad by coach Dunga.

Gabriel a long with Atletico-MG have been drafted into the squad to face Argentina and Peru after both PSG’s Marquinhos and Real Madrid left back Marcelo have been ruled out through injury.

Gabriel was called up for Brazil in March 2015 but if he did feature for the Selecao in either game this month it would mark his first cap for his country.

The 24 year old defender has developed into a consistent performer when called upon by Arsene Wenger. He has also developed a hero’s status with the Arsenal fans following his altercation with Diego Costa coupled with his no nonsense defending.

This opportune inclusion into the national squad could be the most decisive step in his nascent international football career.
