Chelsea’s Brazilian winger Willian believes confidence is slowly returning to a beleaguered Chelsea side. The defending champions are already 14 points off the pace in the Premier League after a dreadful start to their title defence. However, the garden is rosier in the Champions League for Chelsea, who sit top of their group following a 2-1 win over Dynamo Kyiv at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.

And Willian, Chelsea’s star performer in an otherwise tumultuous season, hit the winner with another curling free-kick, his 5th free-kick goal of the season. And the ex Shakhtar wide man feels momentum is slowly coming back for his team, telling the official Chelsea website, “I think we played well but we had a difficult moment during part of the second half,” said the Brazilian. “They scored the goal but we fought until the end and I scored the second goal, it was very good for us.

“Confidence is coming for us and the results are coming as well. We have to keep going and keep fighting on the pitch. We lost some games and it’s been difficult for us but we are trying to play better. We know we have to improve more and keep going in the same way.” Chelsea’s next match is away at Stoke City on Saturday evening, a game for which manager Jose Mourinho will serve a one match stadium ban.
