Chelsea’s Brazilian winger Willian has insisted that his troubled team have little option but to keep working hard, in order to arrest the amazing slump of the defending Champions. Chelsea lie in 15th place with only 11 points having comfortably won the Premier League last season. The Blues lost at home to Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime, with rumours of disarray in the squad and the future of manager Jose Mourinho a constant source of media innuendo.
Willian, whose team face an important home tie with Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League on Wednesday, told the Chelsea official website, “‘I don’t know how to explain the situation because we played well but didn’t get the results,’ said the winger. ‘Maybe we are not getting the luck this season; every time they (our opponents) shoot, they score. When we shoot, the keeper saves it or it hits the post. It’s difficult for us but we can turn the situation around and start to win matches, we have to keep going.”
Willian’s performances have been a rare source of optimism for Chelsea this season and he insists the team are still behind under fire manager Jose Mourinho, “He gives us confidence to play and show our quality,’ said Willian. ‘The results aren’t coming but we have to keep going. We need to train more, fight and the results will come.
“We know we have pressure and we know we are in a bad situation because we are not winning matches, but we can turn the situation around and we can do it in the next match against Dynamo Kiev.” Willian has four goals for the Blues this season, all from free-kicks. He hit the bar with a free-kick against Kyiv in Ukraine last week as well.
