Galatasaray came from behind to defeat Benfica in the previous round of the UEFA Champions League group stage, and the two sides face again in Lisbon on Tuesday.
In Istanbul, Benfica took the lead through Argentine midfielder Nicolás Gaitan, but the Turkish side responded well through Selçuk İnan and Lukas Podolski to win 2-1. Captain Luisão is expecting a tough encounter in Lisbon with Benfica missing some players through injury and suspension. Andreas Samaris is suspended, while Kostas Mitroğlou, Ljubomir Fejsa and Nélson Semedo are out injured. Luisão said: “Galatasaray are a resilient side that know what they want. It will be difficult with the losses, but we know that we have a good squad and we must trust the players that are here.”
He added: “We have 90 minutes to get the result we want. We played well there, we managed to play some good football. Now it’s another game, against a quality side and we’ll have to be perfect in order to take advantage of the chances that we create. We know that in the Champions League there won’t be many chances.”
