The excellent season of Corinthians has alerted European sides, and one of the team’s key player, Felipe, is attracting interest from Italy.
The 26-year-old defender has had a solid season, and according to the report from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, a club director confirmed an enquiry from an unnamed Italian team. In May this year, Felipe extended his contract until December 2018 which saw his salary and release clause being increased. The director said: “We received an initial consultation from a team of Italian football, on Felipe’s situation.”
Corinthians have already identified a replacement for Felipe; Gremio’s Pedro Geromel. One of the highlights of the Brasileirão, Geromel is on loan from German side FC Köln.
Besides Felipe, Corinthians also renewed the contracts of Arana, Danilo, Malcom and Gil. One of the few players with an uncertain future is midfielder Ralf, who insists on signing a new contract with of least two years. Corinthians wants to offer an extension for one year, with a small pay cut.
