CEO of Bayern Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has criticized the way Brazil and Chile have treated their players during international duty.
He did not like how Brazilian winger Douglas Costa and Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal returned to Germany from their World Cup qualfiers, and thinks the medical department of the South American countries should significantly improve. He told Bayern-Magazins: “I am currently appealing to the South Americans to significantly improve their medical treatment. We’ve only recently experienced it with Douglas Costa. The Brazilians just put him on a flight after the match along the lines of devil-may-care. His foot injury at least would have needed a pressure bandage.”
He added: “It is unacceptable that the national teams sent back the players to their clubs without giving professional attention. For the players it’s an honor to play for your nation, but what happened is unacceptable.”
