Orlando City star Kaká was kept in the Brazil squad by Dunga for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Peru.
Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho was excluded from the list for the fixtures in Buenos Aires and Salvador next month, with the coach saying that Kaká took his opportunity when given the chance. Coutinho was called up by Dunga for the first two qualfiers against Chile and Venezuela, but had to be removed from the squad due to an injury, which led to the selection of Kaká as his replacement. He was quoted in GOAL: “Kaká comes in as has done in previous squads. Just as we did before with Robinho, of course we will talk and exchange information, but as always it’s technical ability that decides whether a player joins the squad. Let’s enjoy the experience that he can share with the other players, but the technical ability will always carry greater weight.”
