Next Saturday, Botafogo’s 17-year-old striker Luís Henrique will play his first match for Brazil at the U17 FIFA World Cup in Chile, and he already seems to be attracting interest from Europe.
Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade had reported Arsenal’s interest in Luis Henrique last week, claiming that agent Kia Joorabchian has started the initial contacts with the youngster to try and take him to England. According to Globo Esporte, Luis Henrique is is in a process to obtain Italian passport which would facilitate a transfer to Europe. The report also states that an unnamed Italian club contacted Botafogo directly to show their interest in the striker. His mother Tanara Farinhas confirmed the interest of foreign clubs, and revealed her son’s dream to play in a England. She said: “Playing in English football is a dream of Luis Henrique. But at the moment he is focused on the World Cup with the Brazilian national team and also in Botafogo. He has a contract with the club until the end of 2017, and if something happens again, all parties will be heard. For now, we haven’t received any official proposal from European clubs, just enquiries.”
