Reports in the Italian media are claiming there are three Premier League sides tracking Brazilian International Jean.

Calcio Mercato say West Ham, Aston Villa and Everton have all signaled interest in the 29 year old Fluminense midfielder who is weighing up his options and could push for a move away in January.

Jean currently has six caps for the Brazilian national side, with his best achievement to date helping the team win the 2013 Confederations Cup.
The Fluminense man is often seen as a defensive midfielder but can slot into right back if necessary. However having never played club football outside of South America he will have to adapt quickly to the rigours of the Premier League.

The ex-Sao Paulo midfielder has only played in England once, coming on for the last half hour of Brazil’s 2-1 defeat to England in 2013.
Nonetheless the man who has won two Serie A titles in Brazil first with Sao Paulo in 2008 and then with Fluminense in 2012 would come in and help stabilise a team needing revitalising.

West Ham manager has no shortage of central midfielders at the moment, with first choice pair Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate forming a formidable duo and the likes of Pedro Obiang and Alex Song behind providing fierce competition.

However it may be worth a look for either Villa’s Tim Sherwood or Roberto Martinez at Everton. As for the latter with summer signing Tom Cleverely out of action and both Leon Osman and Gareth Barry both nearing 35, Martinez may look at the Samba star to bolster his midfield.

Moreover, Sherwood could be thinking someone in the mould of Jean is what he needs to glue his youthful team together and hopefully help them bloom. Villa brought in 22 year old Jordan Veretout, 25 year old Idrissa Gueye and 19 year old Adama Traore into his team in the summer but with the team languishing in the bottom three, they need a level-headedness to keep the harmony in the squad.

Sherwood has done this in defence with the acquisition of experienced defender Joleon Lescott but it is the midfield engine room where he needs to have a big presence both on and off the field and Jean may be that man.
