As Brazil lost 2-0 to Chile in the opening round of CONMEBOL qualifiers in Santiago, Palestine drew 1-1 with Timor Leste in the Asian qualifiers at another part of the world.
Brazilian midfielder Paulo Helber, a naturalized citizen of Timor Leste, has more than 20 appearances to his name for the Asian team. He was a Santos youth team [dismissed without reasons later] player and represented some Brazilian clubs before moving to Asia to play professional football. He came to Santos aged just 13, where his teammates included the likes of Felipe Anderson and current Brazilian captain Neymar for whom Helber has lots of good words. Helber, who"s known as Paulinho Varginha, said: “Neymar is extraordinary, he is a wonderful person both in and off the field, and super simple. He comments on my photos on Instagram, sends messages and through mutual friends, he always says, ‘Send a hug for Paulinho Varginha." Eight years have passed and he still remembers."
