Former Chelsea Defender David Luiz and goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe have both left the Brazil camp to rejoin their clubs, having both been ruled out of Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Venezuela in Fortaleza.

Luiz limped off in the first half of the Seleção’s 2-0 defeat to Chile in Santiago on Thursday. His knee buckled on the greasy surface in the Estádio Nacional and he was replaced by PSG teammate Marquinhos. It is expected that Marquinhos will partner Miranda at the heart of the Brazilian defence on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, reserve goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe returns to Porto Allegre to be treated by his club Grêmio, though the CBF refused to elaborate on the injury suffered by the keeper. First choice custodian Jefferson has come under fire for his performance against Chile, but there was no suggestion that his place was under threat from Grohe. Internacional keeper Alisson will provide back up for Jefferson on Tuesday.

Dunga will not call up any reinforcements for these injuries. Brazil train in the Estádio Presidente Vargas in Ceara on Saturday, the ground that will host Tuesday’s qualifier with Venezuela. The game begins at 02.00 BST on Wednesday.
