Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura has said that French legend Zinedine Zidane is his idol and that he sees him better than all Brazilians.
The Brazilian also expressed his wish to be in Brazil’s squad for next year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In an interview with France Football magazine, the former São Paulo sensation remembered his nation’s defeat to France in the 1998 World Cup Final and the quarterfinal elimination in 2006. He said: “My idol was Zinedine Zidane. I know that he’s the guy who mostly made Brazil cry. Every time we played against him, he gave us much harm; in 1998, in 2006…but he’s still my idol. He is the best player I’ve seen, better than all Brazilians.”
Lucas, who has returned to the national team under Dunga, also said that his goal for the coming year is to compete in the Olympic Games. He added: “It is my goal. It will be hard, because only three players over 23 years can go. Actually, two, because Neymar will be one of the three. Brazil have never won the Gold medal at the Olympics, it motivates me a lot. I hope I have the opportunity to go.”
