Brazilian legendary full-back Cafú says he disapproves the choice of Neymar as the captain of the national team as he doesn’t have the profile of a leader.
Cafú, who was captain of the side that lifted the country’s record fifth World Cup in Yokohama in 2002, is part of Dunga’s staff for the upcoming qualifiers against Chile and Venezuela. However, in an interview with Four Four Two magazine, Cafú insists that defenders David Luiz and João Miranda have better profiles to lead the national team. He said: “We need to take responsibility off him. We have to let him enjoy himself. He doesn’t have to talk to the referee, to be the middleman between players and the coach. That is what a captain is for. He is the biggest icon in Brazilian football in 10 years, but for now he has to play, not lead. Miranda and David Luiz have better profiles for a captain.”
