Three months after winning the first trophy in their history, Chile host Brazil on Thursday for their opening game of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Santiago.
35-year-old Santos striker Ricardo Oliveira, who’s the top-scorer of the Brazilian Championship and returning to the national setup after eight years, has sent a message to the Chileans. During a press conference before training on Tuesday, he said: “It will be a tough match for both. We will play away against this generation that made history. But the most important is that we also have champions in this side. Let’s start the qualifiers and we want to go towards our objective. In the end, we can lead Brazil to the World Cup. We know we will have difficulties, but they also know that we have good players.”
Ricardo Oliveira was drafted into the squad by coach Dunga following the injury to Liverpool attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino.
