Palmeiras midfielder Arouca was substituted at halftime in the team’s 5-1 defeat to Chapecoense on Sunday.
Arouca underwent tests which detected a detachment of muscle in the posterior region of the right knee, and will miss some key fixtures of Palmeiras. He remains under treatment at the medical department and it’s unknown when he will again be available to the coach Marcelo Oliveira. As mentioned in Globo Esporte, the recovery should last for about a month and he is set to miss the club’s Copa do Brasil semifinal fixtures with Fluminense. In the first game of the final of this year’s Campeonato Paulista, Arouca suffered a muscle injury in his left leg that kept him out of the first few matches of Palmeiras in the Brasileirão. At that time, the midfielder took a little over a month to return to play an official match.
The injury to Arouca is a major concern for Marcelo Oliveira, with Gabriel already out for the rest of the season with a knee ligament rupture.
