Brazilian full-back Adriano was approached by AS Roma during the summer transfer window, but stayed at Barcelona after a request from coach Luis Enrique.
However, the player’s future at the club is again in doubt as he’s yet to respond to Barcelona’s renewal offer. According to Mundo Deportivo, Adriano wanted a one year contract extension to which the club have agreed, but with the current salary. Adriano, who’s not a regular in the starting XI, feels neglected because he only asked the club what was offered to him by AS Roma; a contract until 2018 with salary increase. The report reckons that Barcelona took the renewal for granted in August, but now the situation has changed because of the player’s demand to have the salary offered by the Italians. In the last transfer window, Roma offered €4 million for the Brazilian, who had already agreed contractual terms. However, the proposal was rejected at the request of Luis Enrique following the injury to Douglas, leaving the club with few options for the wing-back position.
