There’s a real possibility of ex-Corinthians striker Carlos Tévez returning to the club for next season from Boca Juniors.
The chief financial officer of Corinthians, Emerson Piovesan, has confirmed this to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola. Piovesan admits that they cannot buy the Argentine striker at the moment, but insists it’s feasible for them to bring him next year. The director says it will be very difficult to agree wages with the player but he believes that for next year, Corinthians will have new revenues which will help them to try and sign Tévez. He earns in dollars, and his monthly wages of US $ 200,000 is seen as a big obstacle. He earns the same salary as Alexandre Pato who’s supposed to return to Corinthians at the end of the year, if he can’t be sold. Piovesan said: “Today we are unable to buy him. Next year, Tévez is feasible. We are entitled to to significant TV quotas, and other new revenues. Not to mention that there is a great chance to play in the Libertadores and strengthening the team will be a priority. The big problem would be agreeing wages with Tévez, who earns in dollars. And the dollar does not stop rising.”
The negotiation to try to facilitate the return of Tévez to Corinthians is led by football director Andrés Sánchez, who has a great relationship with Kia Joorabchian and the player.
