Brazil FA’s final appeal to have their captain Neymar available for the country’s upcoming two World Cup qualifying fixtures with Chile and Venezuela has been rejected by CAS.
Neymar was slapped with a four-game ban following his red-card against Colombia in the Copa América. The 23-year-old served half of the ban during the competition itself, as he sat out of Brazil’s matches against Venezuela and Paraguay. Brazil FA lawyers Pedro Fida and Marcos Motta argued that CONMEBOL regulations states Neymar only have to serve his suspension during future editions of the Copa América. However, they were notified on Friday about the final verdict that he has to serve the ban during an official FIFA event.
Brazil takes on Chile on October 8 and then Venezuela on October 13 in their first two games of the road to 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
