19-year-old Santos forward Gabriel ‘Gabigol" Barbosa found the net in his team"s 3-2 victory over Figueirense in the Copa do Brasil quarterfinal second-leg on Thursday at the Pacaembu stadium.
Santos, who won the first-leg 1-0, have reached the semifinals of the competition with a 4-2 aggregate score, and will face rivals São Paulo in the last four. With the goal, Gabriel, who was called up by Dunga to Brazil"s Olympic national squad this week, has matched Neymar"s tally to become joint top scorer of Santos in the Copa do Brasil. Adding up the one goal against Grêmio in 2013 and the six from 2014 to a further six he scored this season, Gabigol now has 13 goals, and the young sensation has also surpassed the tally of another Santos idol, Robinho [12 goals].
Gabigol has at least two more matches remaining in the competition, and has the opportunity to write his name in Santos" history books if he can score one more goal.
