Alexandre Pato insists that, if São Paulo wants to be champion in the Copa do Brasil, they cannot afford to play like they did in the first-half against Vasco.
São Paulo drew 1-1 [3-0 win in first-leg] with Vasco on Wednesday in the Copa do Brasil quarterfinal second-leg fixture at the Maracanã stadium, and are through to the semifinals of the competition. Despite the team"s entry to the last four, Pato admits they have to improve a lot if they"re to compete for the title. Vasco were more effective than their opponents in the opening 45 minutes, taking the lead through Riascos and they also created many opportunities. São Paulo only improved in the second-half following the two changes made by Osório at half-time. One of the substitutes, Ganso, stood out in the match and started off the move that led to Centurión"s goal. Pato, who made the assist, said: “If we want to go for the title, we have to improve a lot. We shouldn"t play like we played in the first-half."
When asked if he tried a shot or pass, he added: “I got the ball and saw Centurión in the area. The most important thing was that we scored the goal. Now we will rest so that we can get the top-4 in the Brasileirão."
