18-year-old Santos midfielder Thiago Maia, who still hasn’t agreed to a renewal, can leave the club after the end of his contract in February next year.
According to UOL Esporte, Santos have agreed to meet the requirements of the young player who’s been a regular in the team’s starting XI under Dorival Júnior, but still couldn’t convince him to sign the renewal. They met the demands of the player, and agreed to pay him a part of his future transfer fee. Santos have also accepted Thiago Maia’s request to increase his monthly wages to €26,000 plus annual increases and bonuses. However, Thiago Maia and his agent Juan Figer have other plans for the future. The agent is negotiating the transfer of the youngster to Atlético Madrid for next summer and proposed Santos to renew the bond for six more months, but it has left the club board outraged.
