Cruzeiro confirms Álisson has injury in medial meniscus and will undergo surgery
Defending Brasileirão champions Cruzeiro again have to deal with the absence of 22-year-old attacking midfielder Álisson.
The medical department of the club confirmed on Wednesday that the player has an injury in the medial meniscus of his right knee and will undergo surgery in the coming days. Álisson, who does not have a date set to return to the pitch, has been living with a series of muscle injuries. Álisson had suffered an injury in the team's 3-1 victory over rivals Atlético Mineiro in the 6th round of the Brazilian Championship, which was his third right thigh injury in 2015. The constant muscle problems of the player even forced Cruzeiro to rest him during some matches due to fear of worsening of the injury. He has appeared in just 14 games for the club this season, and 11 of them as a starter. Álisson also represented the Brazil Olympic national team in some friendly matches during this period.
