Ronaldinho didn’t train with the rest of the group on Monday as he wanted time to ‘solve personal problems’ and the club later released a statement on the termination of the contract by mutual consent.
Shortly after the official statement in the club’s website, Ronaldinho thanked Fluminense and stated he was proud to have worn the club’s shirt, although it was a very short stint in Rio. The player wrote: “Dear Mr. President, directors and the whole Fluminense nation! Very proud to have worn this shirt. Today we are announcing the end of the employment but not the end of an important relationship which was sealed with truth, respect and honesty. I really want to thank the chairman Peter, Mário Bittencourt, Fernando, the full coaching staff, players and the staffs for the care and dedication to me and my family. I mean I will not be on the pitch but I will be cheering for the success of this great club! Thanks for everything Peter, to have the confidence and your friendship is a great prize! I am sure that Brazilian football is better with more people like you, a good friend and professional to whom I am very grateful. Thanks to all Fluminense people!”
