Fluminense showed on Saturday that they no longer wants to be relegation
contenders this season, beating Goiás at Maracanã after a poor period in
the league.
Against Goiás, club captain and striker Fred was the main highlight of the
game where he scored the team’s first goal and gave the assist to Gustavo
Scarpa who scored the second. Besides them, youngsters Marlon, Léo Pelé and
Marcos Júnior also impressed, while Scarpa received special praised from
the coach Eduardo Baptista: “Scarpa scored a goal, and Léo made the cross
for Fred’s goal. It’s nice to see the boys with personality, playing.
Scarpa is a good boy, dedicated, he’s had good matches. We have to think
about the match against Grêmio, that’s what we focus on. One of the reasons
that made me come to Fluminense was exactly why. For me, winning is very
good. I talked to the boys that they are not here to take pictures. If
there’s a condition, they will play with me. The boys have to win
opportunity, score goals and I’m even happier.”
