Former Bahia youth player and ex-Brazil U15 international Paulo Henrique lost the battle with leukemia and died on Thursday.
He discovered the disease while playing for Bahia in early 2014, after almost fainting during a session held at Fazendão, the club’s training center. He has since been forced to quit football to carry out the treatment. Paulo Henrique, who was part of the youth team Bahia, also came to go through a trial period in a club in Austria. In the Brazilian national team, the youngster competed in the Mini Copa America with the U15 side and was champion of the tournament. Bahia U16 team coach Édson Fabiano, Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca and Valencia player Danilo posted messages on social networks and lamented the death of the 19-year-old Paulo Henrique. He will be veiled on Saturday in the Bahia municipality of Coaraci. The funeral takes place on Sunday.
