Juan Carlos Osório has denied reaching an agreement to coach the national team of Mexico who are looking for a new boss following the dismissal of Miguel Herrera an year after the World Cup.
On Thursday, a Colombian website reported that a deal has been reached, but Osório was quick to deny it. He told reporters: “There’s nothing. If anything, all of you will know.”
However, the São Paulo coach is in contention for the Mexico job, and made it clear that it is a dream of his to manage a national team competing in the World Cup. He stated that the Mexican job fits the profile, and after the fixture with Vasco, he refused to guarantee his permanence at São Paulo. He said: “I will speak again; everyone here knows the reality of Brazilian football. With three or four bad results I would certainly be not here. In terms of club, I’m in the best club and do not think anywhere else. But a national team is something else, play a World Cup is very different. Now, my heart and my energy is here. But I cannot say what will happen tomorrow.”
