Currently going through a very difficult period, Fluminense take on Goiás on Saturday night at the Maracanã stadium, with the club just three points away from the relegation zone in the Brasileirão table.
Because of the concern, Fluminense striker Fred admitted that the team are currently fighting against relegation. Fred says that the 12th place in the league with 34 points forces players to face the risk of going down. Chapecoense, sitting 17th, are the first team in the relegation with 31 points. The captain attended a press-conference after training on Thursday, and said: “Right now we’re at risk, yes. I will not be a hypocrite and say no. Today our reality is this.”
Fluminense’s opponents on Saturday, Goiás are another team looming over the danger zone. They’re placed 16th with 31 points. The return leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinal over Grêmio will take place on Wednesday in Porto Alegre.
