The penalty incident during Corinthians against Santos on Sunday which saw David Braz get sent-off, perhaps unfairly, still generates much debate.
The referee wrote on his report that he sent-off David Braz following the player"s spiteful behavior towards him. But the centre-back affirms that the referee told him the red-card was for the foul on Vágner Love which was actually made by Zeca. Braz told Globo Esporte: “He said to me that ‘It was you!" but I told him ‘I wasn"t involved in it; it"s not me who made the foul!" But he said ‘It was you!"."
Braz also says that he didn"t even know it was Zeca who conceded the foul on Vágner Love. He added: “We started to ask. Me, Renato, Victor Ferraz… several players were on my side asking what it was, whether it was pushing, what had happened and all. Then he came to me with a red-card claiming it was me who made the foul. I asked ‘Why are you kicking me out?" and he says ‘You conceded the penalty, you made the foul." I said it wasn"t me, so he asks ‘Who did it, then?" So I asked him ‘If you don"t know who made the foul, how can you give a penalty?"."
At the end of the game, Zeca said that he didn"t commit the foul, but before entering the team bus, he admitted that he conceded the penalty.
The referee Flávio Rodrigues Guerra said: “I am not crazy to invent stuffs that I know can hurt me. Fact is, what happened was a penalty. It was right. If we had identified it was Zeca, then there"d be two red-cards. He comes at the end of the game, says he hasn"t conceded the penalty, and that was a shame. Oh, and after he says he made the foul and told me it was him [who committed the foul]. How can you say that? Because during the game, he didn"t have this attitude, there would be no controversy. At no time he comes to me or he"s close to me. He was trying to hide, don"t know…"
“Braz offends me and he offends the assistant as well. The sending off was because he offended me and the assistant."
