Felipe Melo played only his second game for Inter Milan last night but claimed that the team is ready to take on everyone following a fourth straight victory.

Inter continued their 100% record so far in the Italian Serie A as they narrowly beat Chievo 1-0 away from home. Chievo had plenty of the ball and Melo and his team mates were made to work very hard but they held out as Mauro Icardi’s first half strike secured the three points.

“It means we are on the right track and must continue like this,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “It’s important to start well, but even better to remain consistent and end strong.
“Inter must always target the Scudetto. Inter are Inter, one of the biggest clubs in the world. We have to think of winning every single game.”

“It means we are on the right track and must continue like this,” Melo told reporters shortly after the final whistle. “It’s important to start well, but even better to remain consistent and end strong. Inter must always target the Scudetto. Inter are Inter, one of the biggest clubs in the world. We have to think about winning every single game.”

Melo defended well throughout but as well as making an impression on the match he also made an impression on an opponents face. Melo collided with Chievo’s Paul M’poku in mid-air during the closing minutes and the DR Congo player came off worse with a fractured cheekbone.

Chievo manager Rolando Maran was so incensed by the incident that he was sent to the stands by the referee. Melo received no punishment for the coming together and later had a message for Maran.

“Football is a contact sport. If you don’t like it, play tennis.”
