Atlético-PR striker Walter, who had chances to score but was resisted by Grêmio’s defense, couldn’t prevent his team’s 2-1 defeat at the Couto Pereira on Wednesday.
With no wins in four rounds, the striker admitted that the team is going through a difficult period in the Brasileirão. Walter is the club’s top-scorer in the competition, and he lamented his team’s poor performance in the first-half against Grêmio. Although he acknowledges that Atlético-PR improved their game in the second period, he left the field dissatisfied. He was quoted in Globo Esporte: “We’re going through that difficult time. All teams have, and now it’s our turn. We are four games without a win. Fluminense, for example, are also going through a similar period. In the first-half, Grêmio deserved the victory, but we were much better in the second-half.”
Following the defeat to Grêmio, Atlético-PR find themselves 9th in the table with 38 points, and will face Coritiba in their next fixture.
