FC Goa squandered a 2-0 lead, allowing UAE side Al-Khaleej to fight back and draw in their first pre-season friendly match 2-2 at the Dubai Sports City, ahead of the second edition of Indian Super League.
Zico’s team took a 2-0 lead through goals from Jofre and 36-year-old Brazilian striker Reinaldo, but Al-Khaleej did enough to equalize and avoid a defeat. Zico was pleased with his team’s display in their opening practice game, and said: “I am happy with the way the team played. After a week of training it was nice to see the boys play at a high level and no injuries from our first game. We now look forward to our next game.”
The squad is scheduled to train in Dubai until September 20, after which the team would be back in Goa for the final preparations ahead of ISL 2.
