Although Internacional were defeated 2-0 in a key fixture against São Paulo on Saturday, the players still seem to believe in the club’s chances of qualifying for the Copa Libertadores, and that’s what forward Vitinho had to say.
Vitinho, who’s been playing well under the coach Argel Fucks, had missed the away fixture on Saturday but he will be back in the team on Wednesday when Inter take on a Palmeiras side without Dudu, Lucas, Robinho and Gabriel Jesus. With the defeat to São Paulo, the Porto Alegre based club remain in 11th place in the Brasileirão table with 31 points, but Vitinho seems optimistic about their top-4 mission. He was quoted in Globo Esporte: “If we look at the number of games that we still have, surely you can still get to it. I have in mind that we will get to G-4. We are improving, despite the defeats. We have a tough fixture against Palmeiras. We know that it will be difficult, but we need to win all three points at home.”
He added: “It is important to be in the G-4 and we wish to be in it. It will be a difficult task, but not impossible. It would be a good achievement.”
