Bayern Munich have confirmed that defender Dante has agreed a transfer to fellow Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg.

The Brazil international – capped 13 times since debuting in 2013 – will sign a contract until June 2018, with Wolfsburg parting with a reported fee of €4.5 million to secure him.

Speaking about the deal, Bayern Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has outlined that Dante’s motivation for moving on is a desire to play first-team football and stated that once he outlined that he wanted to go, they were happy to negotiate his exit.

“Dante simply wanted the chance to play regularly. We did not want to deny him this opportunity,” he said, as reported by website ESPN FC.

“We would like to thank Dante. FC Bayern enjoyed great success in his time at the club, with many wonderful moments and trophies.

“We’ve also come to know and value Dante as a very agreeable and likeable person. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Dante was signed by Bayern from Borussia Mönchengladbach for a reported fee of €4.7 million in July 2012.

The 31 year-old won nine major honours with the club and made 133 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals.

This season, he had featured twice, but only been on the pitch for 34 minutes.
