Braga defender Aderlan Santos has undergone medical examinations, ahead of completing a switch to Valencia.

The 26 year-old arrived at a medical clinic in Spain’s third largest city on Thursday, as he looked to conclude the requirements for his move to Spain.

Santos is expected to sign a deal until June 2020 and will cost Valencia a reported fee of €10 million.

The centre-back is being brought in as a replacement for Argentina international Nicolás Otamendi, who was sold to Manchester City earlier this month for around €44.6 million.

Santos will compete with the likes of Rúben Vezo and Shkodran Mustafi for a starting berth and is the second player Valencia have signed from Braga in the summer transfer window, with midfielder Danilo Barbosa having already arrived on loan in July.

Santos leaves Braga after spending three years with the club. He was signed from Clube Desportivo Trofense in July 2012 and has gone on to feature 89 times in all competitions, scoring nine goals.

He was also part of the squad that won the 2012-13 Taça da Liga, in his debut campaign, and made 16 appearances for Braga B.

This season, he had played 90 minutes in both of Braga’s opening two Primeira Liga matches.
