The top two teams in the Brasileiro Série A are no longer in the Copa do Brasil as both crashed out of the competition yesterday evening.

Brasileiro leaders Corinthians were hosting Santos last night and were already 2-0 down from their first leg meeting. The match was only 14 minutes old when youngster Gabriel Barbosa struck for the visitors to add to their lead.

Ricardo Oliveira increased this advantage midway through the second half and although Romero grabbed a consolation for Corinthians it was Santos who strolled into the quarter finals 4-1 on aggregate.

It was a much closer match between Figueirense and Atlético Mineiro in Florianópolis. The first leg had been tied 1-1 and Mineiro were the first to strike in this game with a neat finish on the stroke of half time from Edcarlos.

But Leandro Silva and Marcão both scored for Figueirense in the last twenty minutes to send last years champions crashing out 3-2 on aggregate. Figueirense will hope this cup form can now be replicated in the league as they remain only two points from the relegation zone in 14th.
