ALexandre Pato has given his under fire manager a boost by publicly backing him to stay at São Paulo.

The pressure was on Juan Carlos Osorio after São Paulo lost three games in a row, including a 2-1 home defeat against Série B side Ceará in the first leg of their Copa do Brasil tie. But last night Pato was amongst the São Paulo scorers as they beat Ceará  3-0 to progress on aggregate.

Pato was interviewed after the match and praised his manager who he believes should stay for the forseeable future.

“Osorio must continue, he is someone who is hyper-professional, very intelligent. He is a person who takes risks. In Brazilian football it is very difficult for a coach to play on the attack.”
