The Brazilian accepts his side were poor against Sporting Gijón but insists the man in charge is the right one to lead the team forward.
The former Liverpool and Napoli boss saw his first Liga game in charge of Madrid end in disappointment as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Sporting Gijón. Marcelo admits his team should improve and is fully confident that Benítez is the right man to ensure they do. He was quoted in GOAL: “We weren’t at our best in that game but we’re going to take away the positives and get better. It was just the first game, we have a lot of time ahead of us. There’s a good feeling in the squad. Benítez is an amazing coach, very competetive. He talks to us a lot and shows us where we have to improve, he’s on top of it all to make us better.”
He continued: “I’m always trying to get better. I’m at the best club in the world and that helps a lot to keep giving my best for the fans.”
