Serie A newcomers Carpi have made contact with Torino over a possible move for forward Amauri, according to reports.

The website of Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, as cited by Football Italia, suggests that talks have been initiated between Carpi and Amauri’s representatives and that the player is now evaluating whether to pursue their interest, or stay and fight for his place at Torino.

The 35 year-old was signed by the Granata on a free transfer from Parma in September 2014 and has a contract with them that runs through to June 2016.

Last season, he featured in 29 matches in all competitions, scoring three goals. In Serie A, he managed to net just once though, in a 5-1 win over Sampdoria in February.

This summer, Torino have brought in Italy under-21 international Andrea Belotti from Palermo and with the likes of Fabio Quagliarella, Maxi López and Josef Martínez to compete with for a starting berth, Amauri may prefer to move on.

At Carpi, he would be guaranteed to feature more regularly and could play alongside fellow Brazilian forward Ryder Matos, who has been signed on loan from Fiorentina.

Amauri’s experience – he has scored 85 goals in 335 Serie A appearances across his career – would surely aid the club in their maiden Serie A campaign.
