Juventus are closing in on a deal for FC Porto defender Alex Sandro, according to reports.

The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Serie A holders have agreed terms with Porto and that the transfer should announced in the near future.

Juventus are expected to pay around €22 million to secure Sandro, while the player will sign a five year deal, worth €2.5 million annually, plus bonuses.

The reports claim that the two clubs are likely to exchange documents on Tuesday or Wednesday, with Sandro then free to travel to Turin to undergo medical examinations and complete the move.

The 24 year-old is believed to have also had an offer from Manchester City, who were willing to offer a more substantial wage packet, but wanted to wait until January to do the deal, with the player’s contract expiring in June 2016.

Porto have seemingly pushed for a transfer to happen now however, and as a result, Sandro is bound for Juventus.

The Bianconeri’s move for the left full-back will likely veto their pursuit of Atlético de Madrid’s Guilherme Siqueira, who was their initial target, before Sandro became available, after he rejected a contract renewal.

Should the Brazil international – capped six times since debuting 2011 – leave Porto, then he with go with a haul of three major honours and having featured 134 times for the club in all competitions.
