Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has outlined that he would prefer to retain midfielder Thiago Motta.
The Italy international – he was born in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, but represents the Azzurri – is only contracted to PSG until June 2016 and has been strongly linked with Atlético de Madrid, Internazionale and Milan.
His agent, Alessandro Canovi, suggested in June that a return to Inter was possible, but despite that, Motta has begun the new season at PSG.
With the summer transfer window still open until the end of August, a move elsewhere could yet materialise. For Blanc however, the best solution would be that Motta remains in Paris.
“It’s a delicate situation,” he stated, as reported by website Football Italia. “If he’s still here after August 30, it means he’ll play the season with us.
“Personally, I hope he stays.”
Motta was signed by PSG from Inter for a reported fee of €11.5 million in January 2012.
With Les Rouge-et-Bleu, he has won nine major honours, including three Ligue 1 titles.
At Inter, he was also successful, winning six honours. Amongst that haul was a historic treble in the 2009-10 campaign.
Prior to move to Inter from Genoa for a reported fee of €10.2 million in July 2009, he had a spell with Atlético de Madrid and was also at Barcelona, where he won five major honours.
